Grandpa aka McGuyver

My dad asked me for baking soda the other day.  When I stared at him blankly, he asked for "soda pop" (hee hee, I love that my dad says, "pop").  I thought this was for some strange homeopathic remedy he was working on, but he then proceeded to open up the stupid swing (see previous post on Makena's blog), clean off the battery acid that had leaked all over with the "pop," and reconnect a wire that had almost come loose (who knew!).  Lo and behold, the swing works, all the setting, speeds, etc.  Good as new.  However, I should have asked him to disconnect the music wire.  That would perhaps have saved my sanity and killed my urge to throw the darned thing out the window.

The pictures posted above are photos I found on my camera when searching for new photos to post.  I spared everyone, but there were actually about 15 similar ones, where grandpa and Nanea took turns taking pics of each other.

We have begin the pre-school search/application process.  With Nanea set to start next fall, we are just starting the craziness of getting your kid into a good school in Hawaii.  So far we have been invited to a new student open house in our first choice school that is near our house.  We are hoping that this is a good sign and means we'll get in.

I must be getting sappier in my old age but this one made me cry! Just the image of dad and nea's mutual admiration society with the photo-taking... And how much joy dad gets from his three grandbabies. Three granddaughters and three daughters. No escaping the fermones for our dear dad!

maikib is sad because she is now a million miles away. Yeah for the McGuyver grandpa! Hulali started preschool last week (and already she's playing hooky to stay home with me and Kajla today) at a Montessori. She seems to love it! I went to pick her up last week (first time) and the lady said, "Are you Hulali's puna? Because her mommy looks just like you!" I couldn't believe it!
