The Party Aftermath...

Well, the HUGE Birthday celebration is officially over. With just over 200 guests, I would say it was a success. We estimated we had about 40 or so no-shows, which did leave us with a lot of food, but that's ok. Nothing we couldn't eat the next day and freeze for later use. Although I understood the concept of a baby luau, I didn't really "get" it until that night, when most people greeted me with a "congratulations." A baby luau, turning 1, is a very important milestone in the Hawaiian culture.

It was very hectic that night for both Noa and I, with lots to do, and make sure everyone/thing was ok. We had no idea whether or not the party was good, but so far everyone assures us that the food was delicious, and everything looked great. I have no pictures yet since I didn't even bother taking a camera, but we asked 2 of our friends to be in charge of pictures that night, so hopefully I'll have some soon.

What I learned from this experience is that we have really incredible friends and family. No task too big or small. Everyone stepped in to help. Whether it be preparing the food (this party was NOT catered!! - traditional Hawaiian Luau, we started preparing in December) to making centerpieces, party favors, working the check-in table, decorating, cleaning up, etc., it was all covered. We are truly blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people.

Thanks to everyone (you know who you are!!).

It was a FABULOUSO party. They don't get much better. 'Ono food, great company, beautiful aesthetics, the ambience (sp?) was perfect. Great job!
