Happy New Year!

Well, a new year, and same old computer problems. Good thing I have a work computer. Now I just need to unpack my boxes from our Christmas trip so I can locate the cord for my camera to hook up to this one, and I will have pictures.

We had a great time in California over the holidays. We did a lot of driving, and visiting, and eating, and not too much sleeping, so we are still recovering. We had another terrific trip to Disneyland on Christmas Eve, which was surprisingly not crowded. Of course, I have no pictures of that adventure since my camera died. But, I did get a new one from my wonderful husband the next day for Christmas. It was time since both our cameras are old in terms of new technology and we really needed an upgrade.

One of Nanea's favorite things to do in the car is for me to sing to her. It can't just be any song, it has to be one she picks. If you decide on something she doesn't like, she will yell, "NO MOMMY!" and then state which song she wants. She often changes her mind after you've sung the first note. So, in California, she got the biggest kick out of the fact that not only I sing in the car, but my entire family sings in the car. Being that grandpa is a professional musician, and Aunty Mikie (Maki to Nanea) is a wonderful singer, we got some great harmonies going. She insisted that everyone in her presence participate in the singing, and would call you out by name if you didn't. Not sure how she could tell WHO wasn't singing, but what can I say, she has a good ear :). Her favorite was "Jingle Bells," which my very accomodating parents and sister, and even future brother in law, chimed in singing over, and over, and over, and over (you get the picture). The best was when she joined in, "JINGLE BELLS. ALL THE WAY!" Way off tune, but oh so endearing. The other song she sings is what she calls The Barney Song, which I'm sure you all know and hate...but, she puts her own spin on it which makes it hilarious and fun to listen to: "I love you, I love ME!" Her favorite songs are "Mouse," which is the song from the Mouseketeers, "who's the leader of the club" and "Do a Deer, a female deer...." I'm obviously not conventional when it comes to my song choices...

**ADVISORY - for all you non-parents with no pee and poo interests, please skip this next paragraph**
We've had quite some success in "potty" department the last few days. Nanea asked to sit on the potty after her bath a few days ago and proceeded to push out a big poop. Her first poop on the potty! We were thrilled and of course cheered and did the potty dance. Tonight after her bath, she ran into her room naked to get into her diaper and jammies, but got detoured trying to climb up onto her chair. She stoppped and said "I go pee pee," so I quickly ushered her to the potty where she promptly peed. She did the potty dance with us while still sitting on the potty. Got a big kick out of it. (I really shouldn't say "we" since I'm the only one that really does the dance. I'm sure Noa thinks I'm crazy, but I figure it's good to get her excited about it)! She has taken to announcing when she is going in her diaper, so I take this as a good sign. When she does, I always remind her to tell me before so we can go on the potty. She also has disliked having her diaper changed the last couple of weeks, so I tell her that if she doesn't want her diaper changed, then she has to go on the potty. We'll see if this is the road to a diaper free world. Who ever would have thought I would ever write about this subject...

This Thursday is Nanea's 2nd birthday. I can hardly believe it. I promise to post pictures. She is just a delightful little girl. Certainly never a dull moment.

let me see if i can get this right; when miss malu went thru this phase, it was called the "pee pee poo poo" song. to this day, we occasionally mention it to her & she still remembers, but at age 9, thinks we're retarded. LOL

Happy Birthday Nanea! Missed seeing news of you over the holidays but glad that all of you had a great time. Mommy should be diaper free in a little while.
