9 month "well-baby check-up"

Nanea doesn't officially turn 9 months until next Tuesday, but we went a little early to the doctor. She is 18.1 pounds and 29 inches tall. That is a little below average (50th percentile) for weight, but still high (75-90%) for height.

She only had to have 1 shot this time, but the doctor reccommended a flu shot also. I was reluctant for her to have one since I have never had one and am rarely sick. She has not ever been sick either, and we all have heard that you can actually get mildly sick from the flu shot. The doctor knew I was reluctant, and assured me that it is just a myth and you don't get sick from the flu shot. Well, we wake up this morning, and Nanea has a stuffy/runny nose and can't stop sneezing and coughing. A yucky, phlegm-y cough. In all fairness, one of the little kids at the babysitter was sick last week, so it could very well have been that. But, it just seems like a pretty odd coincidence! After that, she had to go and have blood drawn to test for anemia. It was just a finger prick, thank goodness!

flu shots aren't that bad. you only get sick if you already carry the virus, so it's one of those "enhancing" things where it just brings it out of you (duh). hope she's better now!

poor nanea. if it is any consolation, i heard you cant get the flu from the shot. There is another flu vaccine that is made from the virus but not the shot one.hope she gets well soon.
