The Zoo

Well, we made it to the zoo this morning, but have no pictures to show for it. I did remember the camera, but go figure, the battery was dead. And, they do not sell lithium batteries at the zoo. Oh well.

We got there just before it opened at 9am, and there were about a dozen people waiting for the gates to open. It was nice to get there early since there was tons of parking, but the animals didn't seem to be awake yet. Nanea was fascinated with everything, and rode in her stroller for an hour and a half before wanting to get out. In spite of the lack of animals, we had a good walk. I packed a picnic for us, though we ate at a park bench, with Nanea in her stroller, since it had rained this morning and everything was a little more muddy and wet then I would have liked it to be. I couldn't believe she ate as much as she did. All that riding must have made for a good appetite. Good thing I packed a lot. Turkey, broccoli, cheese and garbanzo beans. I finally had to just put the food away since she didn't appear to want to stop any time soon.

These two were in the same exhibit and we decided to try to check them out before we left. Good thing since they were out! Nanea really enjoyed seeing the rhino up close and personal (he came right up to the edge of the habitat to check us out), and she kept pointing to the giraffes as they walked around and ate the trees.

She also really liked the spider monkeys, since they were the only animals out when we got there. She seemed to be fascinated with them as they swung around congregated on the fence near us.
Overall, it was a fun outing. And, at $4 a real bargain! I would highly reccommend getting an annual pass if planning to go even once a month. It's such a good deal, and you support a very good organization.
See you at the zoo!
