Graduation, and a runway show

At the suggestion of many friends and family members, we decided to explore putting Nanea into modeling. The agency we went to required 3 "classes" and to participate in their graduation, which was a runway show at the convention center. While I didn't object to the "classes," I was quite reluctant to make her do a runway show, but that was part of the deal. So 9 months after class finished, today was the day of the once a year graduation/fashion show.

The "Jr. Talent" theme was "Tea for Two," which they described as wearing your Sunday best. Since Nanea loves any reason to dress up, she was all for it.

Pictures taken above, a little mix up on my part, who thought the show was Saturday, I had Nanea all ready, babysitter watching Makena, half way there, when Noa looked at the flyer and it said SUNDAY. Oops. Take 2 below...

Backstage with her mommy-made bouquet and gold butterfly, her favorite bug...

getting ready to walk the L O N G runway, and then striking a post with her partner, Deondre (1 of only 8 boys out of 35 kids). LOVED his dreds, he was such a cutie.

Posing at the end of the runway

Overall, Nanea had a great time and did truly amazing. She's such a performer, she couldn't wait to get out there. However for me, I plan for this to be the last runway-anything I ever take part in. I cannot take incompetency, and it was crazy on the organizer's part. Let alone the nut-so parents who put their 4 year old (and younger!) kids in high heels and so much make-up (EYE CONCEALER!!) I just could not believe it. Nanea would have sat through the entire 2 hour fashion show, which included much of the agency, if we'd let her, but we bribed her with ice cream to make an escape after an hour. It was definitely an eye-opening experience...

she is so adorable! love the dress-- where is it from? (yellow being my favorite color as the moment... heehee). and the headband-- to die for. do you think she'd share with her old auntie who shouldn't be wearing flowered headbands (but still does)? :) xoxo
