And they're off!

This afternoon Makena and I dropped off Noa and Nanea at the airport.  They are on their way to Virginia to visit cousin Holly and family.  Since I had to work, and we were trying to use mileage to go, it ended up that they had to go before the weekend, and Makena and I will join them Sunday.  This is the first time that Nanea has ever flown without me (and she has traveled quite a bit).  I was actually quite sad to say goodbye, and even more sad when we returned home to a house without Nanea.  I have been away from her before, but for some reason this felt different.  They have a LONG flight from here to Chicago, then a short one over to DC.

Nanea could not wait to go on the airplane.  She's been talking about it for weeks, and today we had to threaten that if she didn't take a nap, she would not be allowed to go since we were leaving right after she woke up.  On a typical day, Nanea wakes up and yells for one of us to come up and get her from her room.  Still half-asleep  and groggy, she is usually grouchy when she wakes up.  Today was a totally different story.  She bounded down the stairs with shorts and panties in hand (she still naps in a pull-up, just in case!) and said are we going on the airplane now???  She didn't quite understand that Aunty Holly was picking them up AFTER the airplane ride and couldn't figure out why I was driving her to the airport.  Although she has been on many, many airplanes, she has not gone on one for over a year, so was having a little bit of trouble figuring it out.

Today she also asked several times if she could live with Aunty Holly forever, so Holly, you may have a request once they get there tomorrow.  I can't wait to hear how the flight went!
