3 years old and already planning to move out

Yesterday when I picked up the girls from the babysitter, Nanea firmly stated,

"I wanted to stay with Grandma" (this after a scolding about behaving and listening to mom due to an altercation about getting into the car seat)
Me: "you want to live with Grandma?"
Nanea (pauses, contemplating this question): "No, I want to live with Tutu."
Me: "You want to live with Tutu?  Won't you miss me?"
Nanea: "No, I won't miss you.  Can you pack my things for me?"
Me: "What do you think you'll need?"
Nanea: "Well, maybe some toys."
Me: "No, tutu and Grandpa have lots of toys.  How about your clothes?"
Nanea: "Ok, and maybe some snacks."
Me: "Do you not want to live with me because I yell at you?"
Nanea: "Yes."
Me: "Well, why do you think I yell at you?"
Nanea: "Because I don't listen."
Me: "Well, who's fault is that?"
Nanea: "Mine, I guess.  Can I go live with Tutu?"

So, my 3 year old (who I am beginning to think is actually a teenager in a 3-year old's body), is all set to move in with tutu and grandpa.  She called them and asked, and has been a constant topic of conversation since yesterday.  Today she asked if Makena and I could take her on the airplane to drop her off.  It's been a hard week and a half with no daddy and little attention.  3 weeks to go...though tutu comes next week, so she will be getting more attention then.  She may just stow-away in her luggage.

Awww, man!! Tutu is coming AGAIN?! okay, maybe i am starting to feel a little neglected...

but aside from ME (haha), nea is just too much. i'm so enjoying seeing her grow up. she is a pistol. :)

I love that you say things like "pistol." Noa always makes fun of me when I say things like that.

Oh my god... I am thinking this is a Capricorn thing. Naomi is starting to show her stubborn streak. If Nanea is any indication of things to come I think I'm in trouble!

Too smart for her own good, that one.

BTW, props on handling the situation so well! I love that you just let her roll with her little plan!

Auwe! Get used to the outbursts and keep telling yourself that they don't really mean what they say because it gets better as the years go by. Just stand your ground and love them! And yes, she is a pistol! It's fun seeing her grow up.
